A Long Weekend in Toronto: Getaway to The Six
/Only a 90-minute flight from Washington DC, Toronto makes a perfect destination for a weekend getaway. While preparing for my trip, I kept searching for “black girl things to do in Toronto” on TikTok. Between those initial recommendations and some tips from the locals, I have compiled a Toronto travel guide that should be a good starting place for your upcoming long weekend in Toronto or upcoming girls’ trip. It’s also important to note that I went with two other ladies for a birthday weekend and we are all foodies so the Toronto food scene was thoroughly explored!
I took this trip during the first weekend of December but there are tons of winter activities in Toronto. A weekend getaway was perfect because, like most major cities, Toronto has a very diverse food scene, sightseeing attractions, and some hidden gems all condensed in one area. We were able to get a good feel for the city in four days similar to how you might experience Chicago or New York City in a long weekend as well. It gave us such a good first impression, we are already planning our return in the summer!
Day 1
We landed at the Toronto Pearson International Airport and took an Uber to the W Toronto
Grabbed a late dinner and drinks at Aera
This restaurant has outstanding views of the CN Tower and our food was fantastic
I highly recommend ordering the Sablefish and the espresso martinis
Day 2
Brunch (and lots of tequila shots) at Laissez Faire
The brunch menu was limited but everything was delicious and exceeded our expectations
Shoutout to Curtis for keeping our glasses full <3
Visited the CN Tower
Once we were tipsy, we purchased tickets to the observation deck of the CN Tower
This is the highest observation deck in North America so it is a must-see when visiting Toronto
Grabbed a snack at Living Room in W Toronto
Headed to the Black-owned, MICHELIN Guide Bib Gourmand-winning restaurant Conejo Nergo for a cozy dinner
Late-night cocktails and celebrity sightings at Mister C
Day 3
We woke up early to go to The Distillery District Winter Village for some holiday vibes
Pro tip: if you want to avoid buying a ticket or waiting in a long line, go in the morning and check the wait times on their website. We walked right in after seeing lines wrap around the block the night before.
This was a must-see for us and we were all very impressed by the food vendors, holiday decor, and shops that are part of Toronto’s unique holiday market.
This is where we tried the Toronto staple, poutine, and other holiday classics like a decadent hot chocolate
Grabbed delicious brunch and cocktails at Miss Likklemore’s
The oxtail burger is a must-try!
Walked to Locals Only to keep the party going
Went shopping on Bloor Street and got a snack at Tim Horton’s
Nightcap at The Hazelton Hotel then more drinks at Silent H
Day 4
On our final day, we grabbed an early lunch at Eataly and got some goodies to take home
We did some final sightseeing and visited The Royal Ontario Museum
Before we headed to the airport, we made one final stop to grab some signature Canadian potato chips, Ketchup and All-Dressed
