Restaurant Review: Mr. Braxton Kitchen & Bar
/I have been meaning to visit this restaurant all summer and I’m so glad I finally got there! Mr. Braxton Kitchen & Bar is on Georgia Ave and is overflowing with good vibes. The indoor atmosphere offers a cool bar scene while the outdoor patio features eclectic furniture, twinkly lights, and an Alice in Wonderland inspired mural. I went there for dinner but I can only imagine how fun this patio is for brunch. Not only is the environment cozy and fun but the food is delicious.
I recommend dining outside because of COVID and because it is very “instagrammable” but please wear bug spray because the mosquitoes are not playing and I have the battle scars to prove it. On this trip, I was accompanied by my foodie friend Lola and we were really pleasantly surprised by our food. We ordered Truffle Mac & Cheese to start because if a menu has mac and cheese, I’m definitely going to order it. It was in a cute skillet so I gave them brownie points for that but the flavor was nothing to write home about.
The entrees are where they really shinned. I ordered the Lemon Jerk Chicken which is grilled jerk chicken on a bed of garlic mashed potatoes and roasted brussel sprouts. I cleaned my plate which is very rare for me. Lola got the Carbonara with chicken, peppers, and sauteed spinach. Then we decided to get the Chef’s dessert which is a homemade dessert that changes everyday. On the day we visited, they were serving Crème brûlée. I am usually not a fan but this one changed me. The custard underneath was rich and flavorful without being overly sweet or soupy. The caramelized sugar on the top was a perfect complement to the creamy under-layer. This dessert was a notable favorite.
The Overall Tea:
Mr. Braxton is a cute little vibe. I recommend this place for date night or catching up with friends. The atmosphere cozy and perfect for long conversations or just vibing to the music that they play. I enjoyed dinner but happy hour or brunch would also be fun here. Make sure you try to Chef’s dessert because now, I trust her with my life.
