5 Restaurants to Try for DC Restaurant Week

Metropolitan Washington Restaurant Week is a great opportunity to try out new restaurants or places that you’ve been dying to visit. It starts on Monday, August 28 and ends Sunday, September 3. Before you make your reservations for next week, here are some places that I recommend you check out!

When deciding what restaurants I want to visit for restaurant week, I always consider the following criteria:

  • Trendy - what places are popular right now that I have been wanting to try?

  • Price - what places are usually out of my price range that I could experience for a cheaper price?

  • Award-winning - what places are Michelin-starred or included in the Michelin guide?

Pennyroyal Station

2023 RAMMY Award winning restaurant, Pennyroyal Station is one of my favorite places to gatekeep. They offer a re-imagining of Southern comfort food classics like mac & cheese and pot pie. Instead of creating a pre-fixe menu, I love that they are letting you select from their classic dinner menu for restaurant week.

Cranes

This Michelin-starred restaurant and sake lounge is serving up a fusion of Japanese-Spanish flavors. Their usual Omasake menu is 10 courses and costs $148 but you can have dinner there during restaurant week for only $55 per person.

L'Ardente

If you haven’t heard of L'Ardente you must be living under a rock. This may be the most talked about Italian restaurant in DC in the past few years. I still haven’t had a chance to visit but going for restaurant week would give you the perfect chance to try their new brunch!

Truluck’s

I absolutely love this place and have spent way too much money here. This is a great example of somewhere pricey that would be a great place to visit during restaurant week so you get a 3-course dinner and it’s only $55.

Flavorture

One of my favorite new restaurants that opened last winter. This restaurant takes soul food classics to another level. Flavorture is Black-owned and offers an equally luxurious and delicious experience. My personal favorite items are the charbroiled oysters, grilled rosemary lamb chops and the collard greens.
