Ho Ho Holiday Bars

For my half birthday (which I celebrate every year), I did a bar hop to different holiday bars throughout DC. It was a long night…so I will do my best to recall my favorites and least favorites.

Wunter Garten

This was a pleasant surprise. Located in the NOMA area, this beer garden is a frosty paradise. Bring a coat and some gloves because most of the seating is outdoors. There is an igloo for taking photos and this is a dog friendly bar so there were some adorable pups walking around. The drinks were mostly under $10 and they had food from a food truck which was very good. My beloved line sisters devoured some fried pickles and the burgers and fries were really good too.

I really wanted to love this place. This tiki-themed bar was completely decked out in Christmas decor. It was very kitschy, cute and packed on a Friday night. The drinks were all about $15 and served in tiki mugs. The drinks were strong but good. They definitely had tropical flavors which fit the theme and I love a good theme. Now the food was a bit strange. The staff did not have much to recommend unless you have a taste for Hawaiian/Chinese fusion. The chicken wings are described as “numbing” so I can only imagine how they would actually taste. I will not be returning to this bar unless I am already drunk.

Miracle on 7th Street

I couldn’t even get into this bar. The line wrapped around the side of the building and it was not waiting outside weather. Basically everyone has been there by now and it is a must-go spot. There is a photo booth inside and the drinks are all holiday themed served in cute holiday mugs. It is a Instagram-worthy location for sure. The pop up bars are always popular so be prepared for a long wait time.

The Overall Tea:

If you like holiday drinks full of peppermint or vodka in your hot cocoa, go out and about this holiday season. Be prepared to spend a pretty penny because those Santa mugs can get expensive.
